Day 1

Perth, Avon Valley and Kalgoorlie

Your journey from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean begins as you pull away from the platform in Perth mid-morning. Enjoy a superb, modern Australian lunch as you glide through the picturesque rolling hills of the Avon Valley. Take in the views and perhaps a glass of fine wine before indulging in a three course dinner prior to your late night arrival in the wild west township of Kalgoorlie. Here you will enjoy an Off Train Excursion and gain an insight into the town’s history before retiring to the comfort of your cabin.

Day 2

Nullarbor Plain

Awake to the spectacular expanse of the Nullarbor Plain before watching the sunrise. A selection of regionally inspired dishes from the brunch menu is yours to choose as an ever-changing landscape passes by your window and you reflect on the harsh, remote but captivating beauty of the region. Waiting ahead are the charms of the once thriving community -now ghost town -of Cook. Another mouth-watering dinner is followed by relaxed conversation in the lounge before a restful night’s sleep takes you to the graceful and picturesque city of Adelaide.

Day 3

Adelaide, Flinders Ranges and Broken Hill

You have the choice of a city walking tour (seasonal), a behind the scenes tour of the world-famous Adelaide Oval, or a coach tour of the city sights. Back aboard the train, the journey continues while in the distance the magnificent Flinders Ranges pass by and the rugged, rocky landscape gives way to outback scrub as you arrive in Broken Hill in the early evening. Here, there is again a choice of cultural Off Train Excursions before dining on the train and taking time out to socialise with fellow guests in the lounge.

Day 4

Blue Mountains and Sydney

Wake in the spectacular Blue Mountains. Choose to take in the beauty of this World Heritage listed landscape via the scenic walkways and cable car. See the majestic Three Sisters at Echo Point and the views at Jamies on Valley before completing your journey on our dedicated NSW rail service (hosted by our staff) into Sydney Central Station. Alternatively, stay on board the Indian Pacific and travel direct to Sydney Central Station.

DAY 1 

 BOARD THE INDIAN PACIFIC IN SYDNEY

Departing Sydney’s Central Station, the anticipation builds for the trip ahead as you settle into your first evening on the Indian Pacific enjoying the fabulous food, wine, service and social atmosphere of this much-loved rail journey.OVERNIGHT: 3 nights Indian Pacific (D)

DAY 2 

INDIAN PACIFIC, BROKEN HILL AND ADELAIDE

After breakfast, prepare for your first Off Train Excursion in Broken Hill exploring the beauty of this Silver City, and discover the history of mining that makes the town what it is today and the artistic culture that also abounds in the area. As you approach the southern tip of the Flinders Ranges, the train weaves its way into Adelaide, and you’ll have more afternoon Off Train Excursions to choose from before returning to the train. DAY 3 

INDIAN PACIFIC, NULLARBOR PLAIN

Today, wake up and marvel at the raw beauty of the Nullarbor. Taking its name from the Latin meaning ‘no trees’, the ancient Nullarbor conjures the sense of limitless space and time, making this journey all about those amazing outback views as you cross this famous stretch of the Australian interior. Dinner this evening is under an outback sky on the edge of the country’s largest sheep station at Rawlinna (seasonal). (B,L,D)

DAY 4 

INDIAN PACIFIC, PERTH

Your breakfast treat this morning is watching the delightful Avon Valley pass by as the final stage of your transcontinental crossing unfolds, heading into Perth where your connection with the Indian Ocean begins. Check in to your accommodation and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.OVERNIGHT: Duxton Hotel (or similar) (B,L)

DAY 5 

PERTH TO MARGARET RIVER

Your journey starts with a picturesque drive south to the fabulous Margaret River region enjoying several stops along the way. In Mandurah, a coffee break by the foreshore is followed by a visit to the Featured Wood Gallery and Museum in Bunbury. At Busselton, walk off your delicious lunch with a stroll along the longest timber jetty in the southern hemisphere. DAY 6 

MARGARET RIVER

Today is a sensory overload of wonderful food, wine, culture and scenery as we indulge in regional specialties, including wine, as well as craft beer, coffee, cheeses, olive oil and chocolate with various esteemed local producers. (B,L)

DAY 7

MARGARET RIVER TO PERTH

Today, we head to Redgate Beach to hear stories of the shipwrecks that lie offshore, then head underground to explore the spectacular Mammoth Cave. Next stop, majestic Boranup Forest dominated by 60-metre tall karri trees, and a tour of the tallest lighthouse on mainland Australia, Cape Leeuwin, before stopping for lunch in Augusta.After free time to browse the shops and galleries in the Margaret River township, it’s time to head back to your Perth accommodation.OVERNIGHT: 2 nights Duxton Hotel or similar (B,L)

DAY 8 

 LEISURE DAY

Today is yours to explore cosmopolitan Perth at your leisure. Take a walk to the new Elizabeth Quay, cruise the Swan River, stroll Kings Park, see the quokkas of Rottnest Island with Rottnest Express, or simply relax in the comfort of your accommodation.
