Day 1

Sydney and Blue Mountains

Your trans continental adventure begins as you pull away from the platform in Sydney mid-afternoon. You’ll wind your way through the truly breathtaking Blue Mountains as a sumptuous dinner accompanied by an array of fine wines is served. After dinner, relax with a nightcap, before heading off to bed.

Day 2

Broken Hill, Barossa Valley and Adelaide surrounds

You arrive in the ‘Silver City’ of Broken Hill as the day begins, where you embark on your choice of Off Train Excursions. Experience the town’s unique mining, cultural and artistic attractions. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast back on the train as you make your way west. Relax and take in the views. Before you know it, lunch is being served as the Indian Pacific enters the southern tip of the spectacular and ancient Flinders Ranges. Arriving in the city of Adelaide in the afternoon, you have the choice of a tour of the city, a visit to the world-famous Barossa Valley or McLaren Vale wine regions, or a trip to the beautiful Adelaide Hills featuring the culinary delights of Hahndorf. All tours include dinner. Re-boarding the train later in the evening, share your experiences in the lounge with old and new friends alike, before settling in for a comfortable night’s sleep.

Day 3

Nullarbor Plain

You’ll awaken in the seemingly endless expanse of the extraordinary Nullarbor Plain. Breakfast is served as you travel along the longest stretch of straight railway track in the world. Relax, read, chat or just take in the ever-changing views. This evening, enjoy the tranquillity of dinner off the train and under the stars in the remote and beautiful Rawlinna (seasonal).

Day 4

Avon Valley and Perth

Breakfast is served as you glide through the colourful patchwork of rolling hills of the Avon Valley on your way to Perth, arriving after an onboard lunch.

Thursday evening only, 4.00pm - 5.30pm

Motorail Form

In order to book your vehicle you are required to complete and sign the Motorail Booking Form return to Great Trains and complete payment.

The following information is required to place your booking
  • Make of vehicle
  • Model of vehicle
  • Year of vehicle
  • Registration number
  • Registered state
  • Vehicle measurements including height, width, wheel track inner and outer and undercarriage clearance (refer diagram)
  • Contact details of person checking in vehicle
  • Contact details of person collecting vehicle

A - Vehicle width must not exceed 2.20m, including mirrors
B - Please refer to table below for height specifications
C - Wheel track inner must be greater than 92cm
D - Wheel track outer must not exceed 1.90m
E - Undercarriage clearance height must be greater than 13cm

  • Maximum height: 1.94m (including factory fitted roof racks)

Please Note

Roof racks, wind deflectors, louvers etc must be removed before loading. The length of any tow bar should be included. Caravans, including pop tops and boats are not able to be conveyed by Motorail. Vehicles must be roadworthy at time of loading and capable of being driven onto carrier.Vehicles need to be collected within one hour of arrival.

Motorail Service Loading Checklist

Please ensure the following tasks have been completed prior to loading:

• Please ensure vehicle is registered and in a road worthy condition.

• Vehicle covers and tarpaulins are removed from vehicles or trailers.

• All flammable products are removed from the vehicle.

• Vehicle is not loaded with luggage so as to obstruct the driver’s view through all windows and vehicle does not sit lower than the manufacturer’s specifications.

• Roof racks are empty and do not breach the height restrictions of the Motorail service.Non factory fitted racks to be removed.

• Vehicle antenna must be included in vehicle height restrictions or removed.

• All valuable goods including but not limited to wallets, jewellery or electronic goods are removed from the vehicle.

• Check-in to the applicable Motorail Service loading area according to terminal check-in times.

• Motorail loading times provided at time of booking.

Advance Purchase Fares must be booked and paid for in full a minimum of six months in advance. Only limited number of these fares available per departure and are subject to availability. Children aged 4-15 inclusive receive a 20% discount off the accompanying adult fare. Children 0-3 free in existing bedding. All prices in Australian dollars (AUD) and are inclusive of GST.
